Cockpit living space
In warmer climes, this is where the action is. Usually, such generous dimensions with corner seating layout are found only on megayachts. With clearly partitioned relaxation and sailing areas. A hardtop at the tiller protects against sun and rain. When the sun is shining, it generates 480 watts. If the wind is troublesome during anchoring, the transparent windshield provides protection.
Carbon Performance
Faster than the weather. Important when traversing the passages of this world. A sail area/displacement ratio (Segeltragzahl) of more than 5. Yet robust and lightweight. Hull, deck and mast made of carbon. Large reefs and self-tacking jib guarantee room for manoeuvre. Everything is handled safely from the cockpit.
Streamlined shape
A clear line from bow to stern promises performance without compromise. Predestined for downwind surfing in the trade winds. 13.50 m length in the water line. Safe and reliable, since everything stays on course with the dual rudder.
Flush Deck
A clear and tidy deck from mast to bow. Flush, like the hatches. With integrated jib track. High performance from coaming to coaming. Large sail locker and anchor locker to store all the necessary items. Lowerable bow winch, hydraulic jib furler and code zero furler make for easy handling.
Owner’s cabin
Long sailing trips without compromise: this means sleeping restfully in a large and comfortable bed. Rectangular. 160 cm wide. 23 cm mattress. Feels just like home. And plenty of storage space too.
New engineering design concept
The two-engine concept safeguards against failure, spares the bow thruster and, thanks to two 24-V generators, dispenses with the diesel otherwise needed for electricity. No more equipment stowed in seats and cupboards. Here, the walk-in engine room holds all the equipment.
Clear, uncluttered lines and forms.
Modern design with a panoramic view. The seating accommodates four to six people or converts to a bed measuring 210 x 140 cm. The guest niche offers standing height, two wide beds for sleeping, and air to breathe. The long galley, measuring 335 cm, leaves nothing to be desired.
Travel in comfort
Thanks to the induction hob, efficient cooking is possible even when at a tilt. The large bathroom makes it possible to shower without any bumps or knocks. There is an outdoor shower on the deck. The integrated washing machine with drier ensures independence. The toilet is flush, like the deck, leaving no corners for dirt to collect.
The OUTSTAR 48 is tailored precisely to the needs of the small crew. Single-handed sailing is also possible, thanks to the ergonomic cockpit with five electric winches and the two hydraulic furlers at the bow.
Why are so many details better designed in the OUTSTAR 48 than in comparable boats? The answer is simple: due to the decision to dispense with the aft cabins. This step made it possible to resolutely rethink everything about the boat. Above and below deck. It gave the designers a high degree of freedom. The first thing to arise from this was the unusually large cockpit, followed by the dinghy garage, walk-in engine room with two engines, large sail box and panoramic view in the saloon.
And the guests? They feel much more comfortable in the guest niche in the saloon than in confined and stuffy aft cabins. Here they have sufficient height to stand and plenty air to breathe. And the bathroom? Is more spacious than any on a boat of this size.
